Training FAQs

Virtual learning allows you to participate in interactive, instructor-led courses from the comfort of your office. Virtual learning is intended for Instrument Manager users who want high quality training but either do not have sufficient travel funds in their budgets or prefer not to be away from the lab for an extended period.

Webinars work well for classes that do not require hands on experience to fully understand the material. During a webinar the instructor will teach with a presentation and the student participates by listening, watching, asking questions and joining in on the conversations. Virtual learning courses include the webinar portion (classroom) plus a hands-on portion (lab) that allows the student to test out their new knowledge within their own instance of an Instrument Manager lab.

  • User-friendly access to the classroom and lab environment via a link. There is no downloading of software.
  • Interactive environment and tools allow for learning from the instructor and other students within the classroom.
  • Instructor guidance through the software that allows students to perform exercises and functions on their own lab version of Instrument Manager that reinforce concepts learned.
  • Student access to their Instrument Manager lab outside of formal classroom sessions for completion of practice exercises and review of application concepts.
  • Private assistance from Data Innovations’ facilitators during (and outside of class periods, if needed) to complete training exercises in Instrument Manager lab.
  • Dual extended monitor set up required with at least 1 monitor large/wide screen (i.e. 22 inch)
Note: A laptop computer or projecting the presentation image on a screen is not recommended.
  • Input devices: Keyboard, Mouse or compatible pointing device
  • Sound: Computer with microphone, speaker or headset
  • Internet Browser: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge, updated to current versions
Note: The virtual trainee platform will not work properly if accessed via Internet Explorer. Do not connect via a VPN, this may cause latency, bandwidth or other connectivity issues.
  • Successful completion of a connectivity pre-check test which can be found here: Virtual Classroom Technical Requirements and Connectivity Pre-check document
